Currently residing in Calgary, Alberta, Canada, Kari Furey uses analog photography and poetry to explore artistic themes of beauty, history, nature and philosophy as well as a tool to process human existence. Fascinated by the analog film process, Kari is self-taught and develops her own film and prints at home.
A lover of art history, she is inspired by the Pictorialism, Surrealist, Bauhaus and Dada movements of the early 1900's as well as Renaissance, Impressionist, Post Impressionist and Romantic art and literary periods. Kari believes art is a crucially important medium for our voice in a rapidly changing world. A world that needs our voices to spread kindness, compassion and inquiry into who we should be as human beings.
